Upgrade Guide - BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange
Backing up the BlackBerry Configuration Database
You must back up the BlackBerry® Configuration Database so that you can restore it if the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server upgrade process does not complete.
If your organization's environment includes Microsoft® SQL Server®, use the backup and restore tools that Microsoft provides to back up the BlackBerry Configuration Database.
If your organization's environment includes an MSDE 2000 or Microsoft SQL Server Express, you can use the BlackBerry Configuration Database Backup Tool that is included with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server installation media to back up the BlackBerry Configuration Database to a file. By default, the backup file is named <database_name><YYYYMMDDHHMMSS>.bak.
