Configuring the telephony connector

  • To support PBX-initiated calling, you must configure an ANI number on the PBX and in the telephony connector. This number must be unique and dedicated to the BlackBerry Mobile Voice System. During the setup of a PBX-initiated call, the PBX uses the ANI number to call the BlackBerry device. Part of the BlackBerry MVS provisioning information that the BlackBerry MVS Server sends to the BlackBerry device includes the ANI number so that the BlackBerry device is aware of the number that will call. When the inbound call reaches the BlackBerry device, the last six digits of the ANI number must exactly match the last six digits of the ANI number that the BlackBerry MVS Server sent with the provisioning information before the BlackBerry MVS Client on the BlackBerry device will treat the inbound call as a BlackBerry call
  • You can configure optional ANI numbers for situations where the wireless network alters the calling party number field and therefore the PBX does not use the unique ANI number to call the BlackBerry device. Part of the BlackBerry MVS provisioning information that the BlackBerry MVS Server sends to the BlackBerry MVS Client includes the optional ANI numbers so that the BlackBerry MVS Client has a record of the numbers that can call. When the inbound call reaches the BlackBerry device, the last six digits of the ANI number must exactly match the last six digits of one of the optional ANI numbers that the BlackBerry MVS Server sent with the provisioning information before the BlackBerry MVS Client on the BlackBerry device will treat the inbound call as a BlackBerry MVS call.
  • The Location feature provides phone number normalization. The feature translates the globally unique E.164 number starting with a plus sign (+) to a locally significant number by stripping the plus sign and adding (IDD or NDD access codes that correspond with the PSTN dial plan for the selected location. Use this feature when your organization's PBX does not support the plus sign or does not add the prefixes automatically.
