Prepare the network infrastructure for the BlackBerry MVS
When you prepare your network, you should pay particular attention to how the VLANs are configured and which ports you need to open in the firewall. The BlackBerry MVS Server sits between the voice network and the BlackBerry Domain. You might have to open ports to allow traffic to pass between the BlackBerry MVS Server, PBX, and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. The BlackBerry MVS Server can have only one IP address. You must consider the network placement of the BlackBerry MVS Server carefully. You should consider installing the BlackBerry MVS Server on the same VLAN as the PBX and open ports to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server because you will have fewer ports open in the firewall. For a complete list of port numbers, refer to the BlackBerry MVS Installation Guide.
