Viewing the state of BlackBerry MVS Server instances and components

The MVS Console provides three panes that show the state of your BlackBerry MVS Server instances and their components:
  • Dashboard
  • Server View
  • Components View

Dashboard: On the Dashboard, every BlackBerry MVS Server in the BlackBerry Domain is represented by a table. High availability pairs are grouped together. Each table shows the status and health of all BlackBerry Mobile Voice System components in the BlackBerry MVS configuration. Components report their status and health every 10 seconds.

Dashboard Column Description

Status

  • Active (providing service)
  • Standby (available for service, not active)
  • Offline (not available for service)
  • Unknown: the MVS Console is not receiving messages from any MVS Event Manager instances

A component's status is Standby if it is part of a high availability pair and it is the standby component. This status only applies to the MVS Session Manager and the MVS BlackBerry Enterprise Server Connector.

A component's status is Offline if it is part of a high availability pair and it has been taken offline. In this case, all components of the BlackBerry MVS Server are offline.

Health

  • Green check mark: healthy, able to provide service
  • Red X: unhealthy, unable to provide service
  • Unknown: the MVS Console is not receiving messages from any MVS Event Manager instances

For example, if the Windows Service for the component is not running, there is a red X.

Active Since

Timestamp indicating the most recent time when the component became active

If the field reads Unknown, then the MVS Console is not receiving messages from any MVS Event Manager instances.

Server View: The Server View lists all of the BlackBerry MVS Server instances in the BlackBerry Domain and shows the configuration status of each component. By default, all components of a given BlackBerry MVS Server are in the BlackBerry MVS configuration after a BlackBerry MVS Server is installed. Yes indicates that the component is in the BlackBerry MVS configuration. No indicates that the component has been removed from the BlackBerry MVS configuration.

To remove a component from the BlackBerry MVS configuration, you select No from the Configured drop-down menu for the component on the Edit Server pane of the MVS Console. If you remove a component from the BlackBerry MVS configuration, the component is not listed in the Dashboard.

Components View: The Components View provides a table for each type of BlackBerry MVS component. All components in the BlackBerry Domain are listed. The IP address (where applicable) and port information of each component are displayed.
