Install the BlackBerry Pushcast Software

  1. On the BlackBerry Pushcast server, navigate to the folder that contains the BlackBerry Pushcast Software installation files that you downloaded to the computer.
  2. Double-click the BlackBerry.Pushcast.Software.Installer.exe file.
  3. Click Yes.
  4. Click Next.
  5. In the Install directory section, click "..." to select the location where you want to install the BlackBerry Pushcast Software. The service files for a one-server environment or two-server environment are extracted to this location.
  6. In the Data directory section, click "..." to select the location where you want to install the BlackBerry Pushcast Software data directory.
  7. In the Supporting Services section, select the Default option.
  8. In the Prerequisites package location section, click "..." to select the BlackBerry Pushcast Software prerequisites package that you downloaded to the computer.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Perform one of the following tasks:

    Task

    If a check mark appears beside all of the BlackBerry Pushcast Software components in the list, install the BlackBerry Pushcast Software.

    Click Next.

    If an "x" appears beside a required BlackBerry Pushcast Software component in the list, install the required BlackBerry Pushcast Software component.

    1. Locate and install the required BlackBerry Pushcast Software components on your computer. You do not need to stop the installation process when you install any missing components.
    2. Complete steps 1 to 9 in this task.
    3. Click Refresh.
    4. Click Next.
  11. When the installation process completes, click Next.
  12. In the Setup information section, in the Web site list, click the website that you created for the BlackBerry Pushcast Software using Microsoft IIS.
  13. In the Fully qualified domain name field, type the web address or fully qualified domain name for the website that you created for the BlackBerry Pushcast Software.
  14. In the Maximum file size (in MB) field, click the arrow icons to select the maximum file size for content.
  15. In the Maximum upload time (in minutes) list, click the arrow icons to specify the maximum upload time.
  16. In the SMTP Information section, in the SMTP server field, type the name for the SMTP server that you want to use to send notification email messages from the BlackBerry Pushcast Console to the BlackBerry Pushcast Player.
  17. Click Next.
  18. In the Supporting Service section, in the Web site list, click the website that you created for the BlackBerry Pushcast Software using Microsoft IIS.
  19. Click Next.
  20. In the BlackBerry Pushcast Software Certificate section, perform one of the following tasks:

    Task

    Steps

    Create the default certificate that appears in the BlackBerry Pushcast Software Certificate for the call back API.

    Click Next.

    Select a certificate from the local computer for the call back API.

    1. Click Advanced.
    2. Click a certificate.
    3. Click Next.
  21. In the Database details section, in the Server name field, type the database server name.
  22. In the Authentication list, click an authentication method. If you select SQL Authentication, you must type a user name and password that are used only during the installation process to access the database tables.
  23. In the BlackBerry Pushcast Console field, type the database name for the BlackBerry Pushcast Console.
  24. In the Event Queue field, type the database name for the event queues.
  25. In the BlackBerry Pushcast Initiator field, type the database name for the BlackBerry Mobile Initiator.
  26. Click Next.
  27. In the Reporting services section, in the Address field, type the web address for the Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.
  28. In the User name field, type the user name for the user account that you created on the server that you installed the Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services on.
  29. In the Password field, type the password for the user account that you created on the server that you installed the Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services on.
  30. In the Domain name field, type the domain name or server name for the account that you created on the server that you installed the Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services on.
  31. Click Next.
  32. In the BlackBerry Pushcast Software Passwords section, in the Admin password for system host field, type the password for the system host. If you install the BlackBerry Pushcast Software on a shared database server, you must type the passwords that the BlackBerry Pushcast Software uses for the Microsoft SQL Server database in the Core database users password and Support services database users password fields.
  33. Click Next.
  34. Click Next
  35. Click Finish.
After you finish: If the installation does not complete, troubleshoot any issues with a BlackBerry Pushcast Software component that has an "x" beside its name in the system verification list and click Reconfigure to complete steps 10 to 35 again for the component.
