Branding changes for BlackBerry® Pushcast™

The Chalk Pushcast product name was changed to BlackBerry® Pushcast for all instances of the product name in the BlackBerry Pushcast Software including the Chalk logo, all components, file names, and UI references.

Pause and resume functionality for the BlackBerry Pushcast Player

The BlackBerry Pushcast Player can pause a content download in the following scenarios:
  • when a BlackBerry Pushcast Player user does not have a wireless connection or is outside of a wireless coverage area
  • when a user receives a phone call on a device that uses a 2G data network
  • when a user can download content over a Wi-Fi network only and the user does not have a wireless connection
The BlackBerry Pushcast Player resumes the content download when the device can establish a wireless connection or after a user ends a phone call.

Preview feature for the BlackBerry Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft PowerPoint

BlackBerry Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft PowerPoint users can preview the content that they create before they send it to BlackBerry Pushcast Player users.

Universal search feature for the BlackBerry Pushcast Player

The BlackBerry Pushcast Player uses the universal search feature in BlackBerry® 6 to permit users to search for content titles in the BlackBerry Pushcast Player.

Updated support for a BlackBerry Pushcast Software installation

A BlackBerry Pushcast Software installation supports Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008, Microsoft® IIS 7, and Windows Server® 2008 Standard R2 (64-bit). The BlackBerry Pushcast Software supports an on-premises installation in a distributed environment that includes three servers.

Video enhancements for the BlackBerry Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft® PowerPoint®

The BlackBerry Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft PowerPoint:
  • maintains the aspect ratio and frame rate for a video, and decreases the resolution for a video only when necessary for BlackBerry® devices
  • does not increase the resolution for a video
  • supports the H.264 encoding formats for a higher resolution video
