Create a software configuration for the Chalk Pushcast Player

Before you begin:

Verify that you downloaded the Chalk™ Pushcast™ Player package for BlackBerry® Enterprise Server 4.1 from the Chalk™ Pushcast™ Console.

  1. On the computer that hosts the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, navigate to <drive>:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion.
  2. Right-click the Research In Motion folder.
  3. Click Properties.
  4. On the Sharing tab, click Share this folder.
  5. Click Permissions.
  6. To provide read-only permission to the Everyone group, in the Allow column, select the Read check box.
  7. Click OK.
  8. In the Properties window, click OK.
  9. Confirm that the following path exists: \Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Applications. If any of the folders in this path do not exist, you can create the folders manually.
  10. To create a folder manually, perform the following actions:
    1. Select File > New Folder.
    2. In the folder name field, type Applications.
  11. In the Applications folder, extract the files for the Chalk Pushcast Player.
  12. At the command prompt, navigate to <drive>:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader, and type loader /index.

    The command prompt does not provide a confirmation or response to the command.

  13. In the <drive>:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Applications folder, confirm that the AppLoader created the specification.pkg file and PkgDBCache.xml file.
  14. In the BlackBerry Manager, select BlackBerry Domain.
  15. On the Software Configurations tab, select Add new Configuration.
  16. In the Device Software Configuration dialog box, perform the following actions:
    1. In the Configuration Name field, type the name of the software configuration.
    2. In the Configuration Descriptions field, type a description for the software configuration.
    3. In the Application Name section, expand the Application Software list.
    4. In the Application Software list, select the check box beside the application control policy that you created.
    5. In the Delivery column, click Wireless.
    6. In the column to the right of the Delivery column, click an application that you want to associate with the Chalk Pushcast Player.
  17. Click OK.
