The BlackBerry® Enterprise Server can connect to the BlackBerry Configuration Database on the Microsoft® SQL Server® using Microsoft® Windows® authentication or database authentication. If you use Microsoft Windows authentication, the BlackBerry Manager logs in to the BlackBerry Configuration Database using the Microsoft Windows account that you used to complete the installation process.

If you use database authentication with Microsoft SQL Server, the BlackBerry Manager authenticates to the database using the database credentials that the administrator provides.
